Lou
Urgent Care Team Lead

Medvivo recognises each person for their strengths and they are a really supportive company to work for.

  • Why did you choose to work for us?

I used to work for Seqol in Swindon and when they moved to GWH I was working as a receptionist in the Urgent Care team as well as being a Community Phlebotomist.

When Medvivo took over the Out of Hours service, I had heard such good things about the company and so I applied for the Call handler role in the Urgent Care team that incorporates the Out of Hours service.

  • What do you get up to on a typical shift?

Working within the team, I help with filling the shift rota and providing support with the calls that come into the call centre. These calls vary enormously and could involve talking to patients with their appointments with our clinicians, working with our remote based clinical teams and liaising with other health care professionals both for in hours and out of hours services.

Currently I am also running the Antibody Testing Service, and managing the Phlebotomist and the Admin Team to ensure appointments are available and test results available as seamlessly as possible.

  • What do you like most about working here?

I like the fact that you are appreciated by everyone you come into contact with, both internally and externally. And no day is ever the same, which makes for interesting and enjoyable shifts.

Sometimes it can be challenging, particularly when shifts are affected by sickness. As a team, we always pull together to ensure the service runs smoothly so even challenges can turn out to be positive.

The support you get at Medvivo is second to none, and you really feel you are part of one big work family.

  • What makes someone successful here?

Having a passion for the job you are doing that shows you really want to make a difference to our service users and their experience of contacting us.

  • What's has your biggest achievement?

In less than two years here, I have had two promotions which really demonstrates Medvivo's commitment to supporting staff development; and shows my commitment to doing the best I can here - having that rewarded in this way is really motivating.

  • What makes us unique as an employer?

Medvivo recognises each person here for their strengths, and they are a really supportive company to work for is you ever have any problems.

I also love the flexibility of my shift patterns. Colleagues are really helpful and supportive if you ever need to make changes.

  • What would you say to someone who is thinking of working for us?

I have introduced a family member to Medvivo and she has also been promoted in a short space of time. So I would say work hard as it really does pay off.
