Daisy
Associate Director of HR

I look forward to coming to work because I know that whatever challenges the day will bring I am surrounded by people who work hard, and care about what we do.

  • Why did you choose to work for us?

When I completed my degree I was unsure what path I wanted my career to take. I had worked for Medvivo in the call centre during my uni holidays and so returned on a permanent basis after uni in a number of different roles before joining the HR team.

I liked the work that Medvivo do, and the family feel of the company.

  • What do you get up to on a typical day?

In my role as HR Manager I often spend some of my day advising our Line Managers about supporting and managing their teams. I am involved in the development of all sorts of people-related policies, such as employee health and wellbeing campaigns, appraisals and training and development.

I work closely with the HR Director, Recruitment Manager and HRIS Manager on a day to day basis.

  • What do you like most about working here?

The people. I look forward to coming to work because I know that whatever challenges the day will bring I am surrounded by people who work hard, and care about what we do.

  • What has been your biggest achievement?

The progression I have made in my role is something I am really proud of – when I started within the HR Team in 2011, there was just me and one other person. Over the years the team has grown and changed, and I have been able to develop my career as well as being part of the team development..

  • What challenges do you face in your role?

The nature of the work we do means that everyone is always very busy which can present its challenges! Asking for help/or spotting a colleague in need helps to overcome particularly busy or difficult times. This isn’t just within teams, but across the organisation.

  • What makes someone successful here?

    - Commitment – if you are committed to Medvivo then Medvivo is committed to you.
    - Passion.
    - Patient/customer focused.
    - Hard working.
    - You have to care.

  • How are you supported in your role?

My Line Manager provides support and guidance whenever I need it. We are the kind of team that works closely together and supports each other. I was also encouraged to undertake an MA in HR Management a few years ago.

  • How does the approach to flexible working patterns suit you?

If flexible working is required, this is something I know I can speak to my manager about openly. As an HR team we regularly advise managers about how to support their team with flexible working requests. We work with managers and employees to try to accommodate both needs.

  • What makes us unique as an employer?

We really are a caring organisation, everyone  is passionate about providing the best possible, high quality services for our patients and service users. I think this is at the heart of what we all do.

  • What would you say to someone who is thinking of working for us?

I would recommend they come and see for themselves what we are really like! We often get feedback from new starters and potential candidates on how welcoming and friendly we are from the moment they walk into reception!
