Iain Hockings | Head of Marketing | Appello

I enjoy working with Appello, As an ex-carer this path was a hard choice because I was worried it would be too hard to leave behind the face to face interactions, but I have to say was my best decision! I love the fact that I am still in the care/emergency sector, I am still helping to provide a safe and monitored service 24-7 to our elderly/vulnerable, not only in one care home but all across the UK and in the comfort of their own homes. As an Emergency call operator I find this is a rewarding role to help others when they need assistance. I work from home and for me this is so fitting for my home life with young children. I really enjoy the balance this job gives me working from home. The team at Appello are great and we are always happy to help each other.

Stacey Sharples | Emergency Helpline Operator

Working as a Night Coach at Appello on flexi time gives me opportunity to support my Team successfully whilst never having to miss out on crucial meetings during the day. Working with such a dynamic hybrid Team of home and office based operators gives me great satisfaction that they are enjoying their work/life balance too whilst supporting our Customers.

Gavin Walker | Control Centre Coach | Appello

I have worked as an emergency call handler part time for nearly 6 years, and love the job and opportunities working that Appello brings, including training. I am now in the process of changing to work as a Night Shift emergency call handler, on a 4 on 4 off shift and am looking forward to having a good work life balance. The Appello management team are very supportive in day to day work life, and have been for me personally as well.

Sam Noble | Emergency Helpline Operator

My name is Rachel Fairbrass, and I am over Pension age. I joined Appello in October 2019 after being made redundant from my previous job. I love working for Appello It is like being part of a big family. The staff at the top through to team leaders and colleagues are very approachable, supportive, empathetic, kind, caring and helpful. They are connected, informative and keep in touch. I have gained confidence which I didn't have before since a joined the company. I have worked for lots of different companies during my working life and Appello is the best company I have ever worked for and I am proud and grateful to be part of the team.

Rachel Fairbrass | Call Handler

I’ve been working for Appello for the past 17 months and can honestly say I’m enjoying every moment. I am a non-emergency call handler, answering door calls. The calls may be from Residents, Family, Friends, Carers, Contractors, Staff, Emergency Services, or members of the public making general enquires. Answering the door calls may sound a little monotonous but each day is truly unique each presenting with different challenges to deal with. I’m also a homeworker but I must say I have not once felt alone or unsupported. There is always someone available to provide support, assistance, reassurance or even just a little bit of banter to lighten the day. From Teams Groups and Chats to First Line Supervisors Support, a dedicated SOS Line, Coaches and Managers, there is always someone to turn to should you require support or assistance with anything at all. Working from home also means I’m not spending hours stuck in traffic, yay an extra half hour in bed, which has got to be good not only for me but also the environment too. It’s really does make a difference to the working day having that extra bit of time and no stress or worry about being late. The job itself is so rewarding, it really is both a honour and privilege to be part of such an amazing supportive team and organisation, promoting independence and helping individuals to remain safe and supported whilst living at home. Appello as an organisation also offer lots of opportunities for further training, development and career progression, flexible working patterns and overtime along with staff perks and benefits and an above average annual leave allocation.

Colleen Riley | Call Handler

I have worked at Appello for just over 2 years now and it has been a very enriching experience for me. It is an organisation that offers opportunities for everyone to foster and grow both professionally and personally. My journey has taken me from an Emergency Telecare Operator through Supervisor role and recently I have joined the Coaching team. My peers at Appello are extremely encouraging, talented and kind. I feel like I am part of one big family, who are always around to support me when I need it. It is the best company I have ever worked for.

Catherine Gadsby | Coach

Working for Appello is rewarding as you know you are helping vulnerable people to stay living at home with our support

Sophie Baker | Emergency Helpline Operator

I joined Appello just under 6 years ago as a Emergency call handler. During that time I have been mentored and undertaken the appropriate training in the roles of supervisor covering teams in both Telecare and Out of Hours. Recently I reached the dizzy heights of a Coach.

All the jobs I have undertaken whilst having their own challenges have been personally rewarding with never two days the same.

Jim Bowring | Coach

Appello's values are fundamental in everything that I do, they represent how I should approach my work and colleagues.

I am fortunate to be able to learn from and work with many good people at Appello and I share the enthusiasm, commitment, and care for my role with others I work with. My goal is to demonstrate daily that I care about what I achieve and how I achieve it. I love the day-to-day interaction with carers and other agencies who all contribute to the welfare of the elderly and those who need our help the most.
