I have been working in Accounts since 2005 when I passed my AAT Intermediate course. Since then I have been fortunate to work in companies of different business backgrounds. With the variety of Accounting roles given to me, from data entry to data analysis those things have helped me to get the role which I am currently doing now.
Every morning, the first thing that I need to do is to update the bank receipts and payments and then reconcile the bank. I need to post the supplier invoices as and when I receive them. We pay suppliers on the 15th and 30th of every month. It gets busier when the end of the month is approaching as all the sales invoices should have been already sent out to customers and all the supplier invoices should have been posted into Sage 200.
I like the people I work with, I do feel like we are one family. I also like how the company looks after us, i.e. pay rise and bonus pay each year since I started in January 2015.
We have recently changed our accounting system from Sage 50 to Sage 200. It was a huge challenge but I was able to handle the situation. We were closing the financial year in June and going live with Sage 200 in mid-July. My payment run in July had to be done manually and a month later our external auditors arrived and I managed to attend to their request of providing the copy invoices that they wanted. I worked extra hours just to catch up with everything.
Here in the Finance team, there is a time frame to follow each month which is great. However, when there is a project like changing from one accounting system to another, that makes a huge difference in time management. I am glad that the Finance Team has survived the challenge, it is not just me. Working extra hours to do what I need to do during those days was the only way to overcome it.
I think it applies to all companies that if we work conscientiously as a team towards a common goal, then we will excel.
I have been given a new laptop to get my work done in a more efficient way, before I was using a desktop PC which is a bit slow. I am very lucky that within our Finance Team, team members are very easy to talk to if I need to delegate some tasks whilst I am on holiday. When I work extra hours which would sum up to one working day, my manager will request an extra day off for me with HR. The result of my hard work is always recognised which is also a bonus aside from the actual bonus pay that I get.
It helps a lot, because if there is something that comes up, for example if I need to attend to an urgent medical appointment, then I can make up for the missed hours from work.
I think one of the best things which makes Medvivo unique is the quality of service which we provide to our customers. Communications between the Management Team and the employees is very good through the Medvivo Employee Forum Team. We also get updates on current activities through our monthly Round Up newsletter. The recent introduction of "Fruit at Work” is brilliant. We all get a free piece of fruit each day which encourages the employees to eat healthily.
I would definitely encourage "someone" to apply to Medvivo because it is a great company to work for in terms of salary and work hours. Also, the people here at work are friendly and accommodating.
