Access to Care Clinician (Nurse)

Medvivo is a very supportive company in all respects. All my colleagues work well together and everyone helps each other if they have any problems.

  • Why did you choose to work for us?

I chose to work for Medvivo as I had previously worked as a Community Nurse and was aware of the services Medvivo provided and wanted to become involved with the company. I also had a colleague whose daughter worked at Medvivo and she praised the company.

  • What work did you do before you joined us?

I worked as a Community Nurse with the BOA/Melksham team for seven and a half years.

  • What do you get up to on a typical shift?

Depending on what I am allocated to do on a certain day, I speak with patients, nurses, doctors and relatives regarding patient care. I triage patients on-screen and ensure they are put on the appropriate pathways.

  • What do you like most about working here?

Medvivo is a very supportive company in all respects. The atmosphere is relaxed, even though the days can be very busy. All my colleagues work well together and everyone helps each other if they have any problems. Medvivo offer many opportunities to progress your career, should you wish.

  • What has been your biggest achievement?

Becoming an ICT Lead, and in general just knowing that we provide a good service for Wiltshire.

  • What challenges do you face in your role?

Sometimes we encounter telephone calls from irate doctors, who can be very demanding, and sometimes we cannot fulfil their requirements. By maybe offering a different service, we can sometimes calm the situation and give the patient a pathway which the doctor had not considered.

  • What makes someone successful here?

A hardworking ethos, working well as a team member while also being able to use your own initiative, being able to take constructive criticism, and definitely a good sense of humour, for when we have tough days.
